Brooklyn Bushfire Brigade

There's a proud bit of old signage that hangs on the wall of the volunteer fire brigade shed in Brooklyn NSW.

In collaboration with the brigade, we have immortalised it as a REMO design, available on T Shirts HERE or Tote Bags HERE.

Brooklyn is a charming fishing and boating village that occupies a strip of waterfront along the southern bank of the Hawkesbury River north of Sydney. Surrounded by the extensive bushland of the Ku-Ring-Gai Chase National Park and the Muogamarra Nature Reserve.

The decision to form a volunteer Brooklyn Fire Brigade was made at a meeting in Brooklyn on 25 March 1943, when a local named Dan Malone was nominated as acting captain and 13 residents volunteered as firemen.

Today, thanks to both the surrounding bush and the adjacent motorway, Brooklyn is the busiest rural fire brigade in NSW, with an average of 140 callouts per year.
