Waffle Weave Towels

Waffle Weave Towels

Introducing a range of waffle weave towels bearing embroidered REMO designs. How cool is the Mosquito Coil ... although our personal favourite is Good Morning.

The waffle weave fabric is 100% cotton ... woven fine, but still surprisingly absorbent (especially after washing). This makes the towels very easy to pack and quick to dry; perfect for travelling. Tea towels for your body? Made and embroidered for us here in Sydney where our production coordinator gets to cast her keen eyes over every detail. Towel features include: flat rolled edges & rouleau hanging loops. Unique.

And they are long lasting. We use them daily at the Bondi Icebergs Pool and in the sauna ... and some of our towels date back to 2006.

Check out our range HERE ... but be quick with your orders as quantities are limited.

Reg Mombassa at REMO

Reg Mombassa at REMO

This week we launch a new idea at REMO, where we collaborate with a small network of gifted artists and designers from around the world to co-curate a selection of their work for presentation within the REMO designs portfolio. We are currently working with a handful of design visionaries, and we will be bringing them to you one by one.

Let's start strong and local! To that end, we are super proud this week to be able to bring you some unique designs by Chris O'Doherty aka Reg Mombassa at REMO!
We've been working with Chris these past few weeks on a selection of his art and imagery:

Cranium Universe
Australian Jesus on the Golden Motorbike
Weeping Robot
Beach Cottage, South Coast
Mechangaroo Celebrates the New Year

... with all designs available on: T Shirts for Men, T Shirts for Women, Long Sleeve T Shirts, T Shirts for Kids, T Shirts for Babies, Rompers for Babies, Canvas Totes and Enamel Mugs.

Check them out at the top of our designs page HERE ... and get your orders in!

In other news, last Friday here in Sydney some of us gathered together in the Town Hall as a community for the first time in three years for TEDxSydney 2022, our annual celebration of Australian ingenuity, creativity and passion; and what a day it was.

This year’s event was an especially poignant one for me. It was my last as CEO (home made clip for family watchable HERE) ... leaving  me with more time to focus on the development of REMO but this time with a focus on stories and ideas; and to regather, grow and engage a global community, essentially to complete what I started on that corner in Darlinghurst back in 1988. Full Circle. Unfinished Business. You. Will. See!

Cheers,

Our NEW Enamel Mugs are Drop-Dead Gorgeous

Excited to receive samples of our new Enamel Mugs today ... and, in real life, they are drop-dead GORGEOUS. We especially love the raw metal edge. No more chipped enamel rims.

Here are some shots taken in the wild on the Hawkesbury River today ... and that cup of Yorkshire Gold tea in the mosy coil mug tasted extra sweet.

We have a big range ... and we'll be adding new designs as we go.

Get amongst our Enamel Mugs range HERE.

Design Revivals

It's been so much fun to be adding new ideas to the 34 year old REMO designs portfolio. New beginnings! Check out some of the newbies HERE.

As you can see, we've also been reviving a number of designs from our illustrious 20th century past. We found a bog box full of artwork in storage and duly deposited same behind the Tiki Bar of our new freelance designer Sue; and she has been chugging through with the scanning and cleaning up.

To that end, please welcome back into our designs range (left to right and top to bottom):

Melbourne Trip

Melbourne Trip

We recently spent a whirlwind 30 hours in Melbourne. During that time we:

Spent time touring the facilities of the new REMO designs production partner in the outer burbs, getting to watch a lot of big and very expensive machines in full flight direct-to-garment printing and absolutely killing it in terms of quality and production efficiency. We also got a chance to look at what they can do with embroidery and sublimation printing onto enamel mugs ... and both of those processes look very promising for our designs portfolio.

Remo with new designs production partner Zhen

Met with Ralph Bonadio at his knitting factory to witness first hand how our Stripey Thing fabric is loving created from reels of organic yarn on machines that Ralph has owned and operated for over 50 years. It was such a buzz to know how much passion goes into the local production of this famous REMO product.

We also met with Dushyant and Vinita the founders of Bhumi, the company that we partner with on the production of our Colour Coded Sheet Sets. Bhumi makes sustainable textile products from premium quality 100% GOTS certified organic cotton, produced ethically in India using Fairtrade practices, and are free from chlorine bleach, toxic heavy metals, formaldehyde and aromatic solvents. We love working with Bhumi ... and we both have high hopes for those sheets. HERE is an information sheet that you can download, and HERE they are orderable online.

Finally, and on a more personal front, we had a drink with arts supremo Katrina Sedgewick, who we first met back in the early 90s when she was folding T Shirts at the REMO General Store in Darlinghurst. See her at 11:14 here ! The REMO family alumni network is both deep and wide :)
